Barbara Ann McCormack, age 87, Hopewell Junction

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- Barbara Ann McCormack (Kenney), 87, of Hopewell Junction died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Nov. 23. 

She was born in Woburn, Mass. In 1928, she graduated from Woburn High School in 1945 and went on to earn a degree as a dietician from Mount St. Mary’s, Hookset, N.H, in 1949. After graduation, she worked at Beth Israel Hospital. She resided in New City, NY for 30 years and worked as a school bus driver for the Clarkstown Central School District for 17 years

She was predeceased by her husband, George Randall McCormack of 62 years; her son, Paul C. McCormack; and brothers, James and Paul Kenney.

McCormack is lovingly remembered by her brother, Lawrence Kenney of Bloomfield, NJ; daughters, Karen Bresnan (Ed) of Marlboro, NY, Joan Williams (Mark) of Radford, VA, and Kathleen Steinman (Ron) of Greenwich, CT; and sons, Daniel McCormack (Katrin) of Hockenheim, Germany, Dennis McCormack (Allison) of Hopewell Junction, and Kevin McCormack (Catherine) of Worcester, MA; and 18 grandchildren: Kelly, Erin, Heather, Kyle, Benjamin, Jacqueline, Thomas, Max, Conor, Dermot, Cara, Alexandra, Julianne, Chris, Brian, Kevin, Nicole, and Paul; and two great-grandchildren, Brooklynn and Harley.

The family moved to Cape Cod, Mass., in 1985 where McCormack worked again as a school bus driver for another 7 years before retiring in 1992. Throughout the years, she drove small buses for students of special needs. With love and patience she raised 7 wonderful children.

She loved doing crossword puzzles, reading and taking long rides in the country. Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Friday, Nov. 27 from 4-6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment of ashes will be at a later date at Holy Trinity Memorial Wall, West Harwich, Mass. on Cape Cod. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice in hers name.
